The Dogmatics
Hailing from the beautiful townships of Kiama and Gerringong on the New South Wales south coast of Australia, Dogmatic Music began as an idea of three friends with a common love of music. Paul McGee had been writing songs and plays for many years and using them to great effect in the classroom. Also an experienced teacher and talented multi-instrumentalist, Neil McCann recognized the value of the music Paul was making. They invited John Littrich aboard to further develop Paul’s ideas. Neil and John were able to bring their years of experience as live performers into the mix. Neil’s daughter, Sarah McCann provided her youthful perspective and talents as a backup singer and musician. Together, since 2004, Dogmatic Music have been producing vibrant and fresh music for schools that brings the subjects to life and stays in the memory.
In developing, recording and performing their music and plays, the whole Dogmatic Music “family” have had a part to play, with Wendy McCann, Jane Littrich and Vicki McGee, all experienced teachers, providing input, and the kids, Gabby McCann, Kate Littrich, Patricia McGee, Steve McGee and Dom Littrich performing both live and in the studio.
The band pride themselves on the ability to perform a wide range of musical genres. Instruments featured in their recordings include: Guitars, bass, double bass, banjo, keyboard and a range of synthesised sounds and percussion. Styles featured include: Rock, Rock and Roll, Bluegrass, Country, Ballads, Reggae, Ska and Rap. The variety appeals to young people.
Dogmatic Music recordings and plays have been used by schools for a number of years in different ways and the band has performed live at numerous public and school events as well as school inservice days.
